Coach Alec
Coach Alec began swimming competitively at age 5 for Bellflower Swim Club and his best events were 100 breaststroke and 50 freestyle. He competed in high school and college where his highest achievement was making the California Community College State Finals in 100 Breaststroke.
Alec has an Associate of Arts degree in Physical Education from Long Beach City College as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology; Sport Psychology & Coaching from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). While teaching high school P.E. and Health he returned to CSULB and completed a Master of Arts degree in Kinesiology; Coaching.
He has been a swim coach since 1997 and has coached many successful swimmers with numerous teams in the area. He first worked with Lakewood Aquatics for 4 years and also assisted coach Vladi and the Green Valley Dolphins for 10 years. He was an Age Group Head Coach with Riptide Aquatics for 5 years and is currently also the Head Coach with the Greenbrook Gators for 4 years. In addition to club swimming, Alec coached high school wrestling, swimming and water polo from 1996 to 2006. His philosophy of coaching is to help athletes achieve personal goals by focusing on correct technique and providing positive corrective feedback.
